Launching today for Beatrix Potter followers

Wow, the launch walk around Hawkshead today, the 16th September 2026, was fully booked and I received a lot of very positive feedback. It was great fun too!

I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my careful in-depth research about Beatrix Potter and her connections with Hawkshead and the group all agreed they learned so much about Beatrix. From arriving in the Lake District as a tourist aged 15 and getting lost in the countryside, to buying so much land and property, making the area her home, alongside her existing talents being a scientist, artist and author she became a unique, strong-willed multi-talented countrywoman, farmer, sheep breeder all whilst contributing to the local community in so many ways. Using all sorts of resources including reading short extracts from Beatrix Potter's Journal, oral history to a newspaper cutting. Holding one of the many relevant books I provided, the attendees were able to hold in their hand the little Tales and compare the sketches in the stories to the real-life buildings in Hawkshead as I added in extra little fun details.
